The Bartush Land & Cattle Company Welcomes David Woods as Chief Operating Officer

September 19, 2011

David Woods, BLCC COO

On September 12, 2011 we took a bold step forward into a new territory as both a family and a corporation by hiring David Woods as our Chief Operating Officer (COO).  Originally from Mississippi, David has over 25 years of experience in the club and hospitality industry.  He brings a skill set to the table that we believe will catapult us into our new direction.  During the interview weekend, David set himself apart from his colleagues with his obvious love for the outdoors, hunting, and wildlife and environmental conservation.  He described his annual bow hunting trip with his son as the highlight of his year.  He has extensive experience opening new clubs and is excited about seeing our project grow from the seeds of an idea to its completion, expressing his intent for a long term relationship and investment in our company and its vision.

In recent years, David has focused his career on club management as Regional Vice President of the Dominion Golf Group in Austin, Texas.  He oversees Onion Creek Country Club in Austin, Lantana in Argyle, and Twin Creeks in Austin.  He has significant experience in recreation, food service, and personnel management.  David holds values such as community and environmental awareness in high regard and has worked with his current company to achieve Audubon Certifications for their golf course as well as other green standards for incorporating education and conservation into club operations.

We also had the opportunity to meet and spend time with David’s wife, Babs.  Babs is a passionate and energetic woman with an engaging personality.  She has a background in elementary education and has had experience with teaching and office management.  She expresses her love of animals in her current position as the Foster Coordinator for the Austin Boxer Rescue.  Babs has served her local community as a Director on the School Board as well as a coordinator of large-scale fundraisers for the County Fair & Rodeo Youth Non-Livestock Event and the Austin Boxer Rescue.  She shares her husband’s love of the outdoors and is looking forward to a more rural lifestyle.

David Woods will report to the BLCC on October 15th.  David and Babs will reside in Shields’ House.  While we offered to make many changes, they are content with only a few minor updates, as they were both taken with its charm and cozy appeal.  We certainly look forward to having them join our team.  Stay tuned for an introductory article and photos in the October Newsletter.  Hope to see you all soon!
