Marching Toward the Annual Meetings

February 15, 2012

BLCC Annual Meetings are just around the corner and we are busily preparing for family and BLCC friends and supporters to descend upon the Ranch.  While agendas are finalized and powerpoints are created, the day-to-day BLCC operations are clipping away at a fast rate.

Last night, the BLCC hosted its first monthly dinner at the Log Cabin.  These reservation-only events are new to our activities and we happily welcomed a few new faces to the Log Cabin last night.  The evening started with hors d’oeuvres and time to mingle.  Appetites whetted, fifteen guests sat down to a four-course dining experience that left them full and looking forward to next month!  Compliments to the Chef were in abundant supply and we look forward to our March 17th dinner.  Contact us to reserve your spot!

With warm weather sneaking in, every weekend in February was or is booked for outdoor events such as upland bird hunting, hikes, and cookouts.  These types of events are perfect for corporate wellness days or retreats.  Let us know if you are interested in reserving a weekend for you and your colleagues to get out of the office and enjoy the Ranch!

We’re preparing to host three wedding receptions this spring and summer!  The BLCC has been included in multiple wedding inserts around Cooke and Montague County and will hopefully become a coveted location for weddings in the area.

On the agriculture side of things, we’ve had some luck with weather over the past couple of weeks.  With a big rain a couple weeks ago, a few smaller ones since then, and a dusting of snow on Monday, the fields are moist and the ponds are full.  A warm front moved in today, so the sun will help the grass green up a bit for the BLCC stocker cattle.  We added an additional 60 stocker calves last week, making the winter herd just under 150 head.  Mike is working dilligently to manage them and we hope to see a good gain on them throughout the early Spring months.

The BLCC Newsletter was sent out today.  Be sure to read it and catch up on all the latest news and events.  And don’t forget that the Annual Meetings are on March 3rd!  In addition to our traditional meetings, we will be hosting Thiel & Thiel for a presentation at the Log Cabin after the meetings on Saturday.  Thiel & Thiel is a full-service architecture and interior design firm based in Colleyville, TX.  They will be presenting their vision for the Log Cabin.  This presentation will be open to Bartush Family, staff, and Directors.  It should be exciting!

The BLCC is moving toward March with excitement and dedication to the vision set out by the Bartush Family many years ago.  Stay tuned for more updates next week!
