Get a Sneak Peek of BLCC Deer!

November 1, 2012

While we have already started harvesting deer on the BLCC as part of the TPWD Managed Lands Program, the rut season is beginning.  We have strategically placed deer cameras throughout the property.  Photographs taken from these cameras give us valuable information about our deer herd’s health, size, and patterns-not to mention some comical caught on candid camera moments! With this information, we can make important decisions about how to better serve the wildlife on the ranch.  We pulled some cards from the cameras this week and wanted to give you a sneak peek before the season really kicks off into high gear!  We hope you enjoy them and if you want to set up an opportunity to come out and see them in person, contact us to reserve your spot!

Note the date…Taken just two days ago!

Here’s a pretty doe. We watch doe activity as much as buck activity, tracking movement, health, and number.

Two young bucks sparring. Who knows what they’ll look like in a year or two!

Another good buck posing for the camera.

Tough to see, but here’s a comical photo of a large buck trying to get to the best acorns on the tree!

We also wanted to offer our congratulations to Randy Lewis.  Randy came over on Monday evening for a doe hunt with his father as part of the Cooke County Youth Hunt.  After spending a quick hour in the blind with his Dad, Randy harvested his first deer!  The BLCC truly feels honored to have the opportunity to be a part of such special memories for the youth in our area.  We also would like to thank Randy for helping us work toward our mission of sustaining the diversity of wildlife here on the BLCC.  Contact us to set up a trip with your children!  There’s nothing like time spent in nature with children and we’d be happy to help you create a unique and memorable experience.

Youth Hunter, Randy Lewis and his first deer harvest. Congratulations Randy!

Memories made on the BLCC.
