Another Deer Camp on the Books!

November 28, 2012

Each year, on opening weekend of deer season, the BLCC hosts its Annual Deer Camp.  This is an opportunity for BLCC Hunt Club Members, Red River Breaks Club Members, and neighbors and friends of the BLCC to get together and celebrate their favorite time of year.

This year, we hosted 25 guests on November 2-3 at the Lindsey Branch Cottage.  Along with members from our Hunt Club, we welcomed Darla Barr, the Cooke County Game Warden and two of her associates, Billy Squires, a neighbor east of the BLCC, and the Ken Harrison.

The Lindsey Branch Cottage was a perfect place for Deer Camp, with plenty of sitting and sleeping space for our guests.

Each evening, different game was prepared for meals including venison, Alaskan King Salmon, dove kabobs, and pheasant.  After dinner on Friday, everyone turned in early in preparation for Opening Day on Saturday morning.  Saturday night was filled with stories of the day, card tournaments, and good conversation.  A highlight this year, was a big buck brought harvested by our neighbor Billy Squires.  He took the buck on the Cole property which sits right next to us on the East border of the Ranch.  Pretty impressive shot!

All in all, Deer Camp 2012 was a great success.  Good time with family, friends, and Club M embers of the BLCC.  We look forward to next year’s stories, food, and fellowship.  Good luck to everyone this hunting season and we’ll see you soon!
